Peer Mediation Project

Kingston Friends Mediation (KFM) successfully bid for monies from City Bridge Trust (CBT) to run a peer mediation in schools project in schools (including two- three schools in Ealing) 2007/9 and invited us to work in partnership with them on the delivery of the project.

Our mediators received two training workshops early in 2008 to prepare them for this work.
Unfortunately KFM trustees subsequently decided that they wished to close down as a service, before the project could really get off the ground.

KFM, EMS and CBT met to discuss the possibility of EMS taking over the running of this project summer 2008 and CBT invited EMS to make a new application for the project which was approved.

From November 2008 it was agreed by CBT that EMS would take over the project and work recommenced in January 2009 and is due to completed in 2010/11.

We envisage that this ground work will enable our Service to continue and expand this project in Ealing.

So far we have identified up to 10 staff/mediators from our Service who wish to be involved.

Preparation work forthe delivery of the training has been completed and training in in the first two of five schools will commence from Spring term 2010. Necessary CRB checks have been completed.

The programme has been written with a whole school approach. All Ealing schools have been introduced to the concept and supplied with a copy of the 'Ways & Means' peer mediation booklet and asked to register an interest with the Service.
